Piano Days

Barry Bretton has been taking Piano Lessons for the past couple of weeks. Here he is at his last lesson with his oh so wonderful teacher. He has what I like to call the Dory Syndrome when it comes to concentrating. You know Dory on Finding Nemo who get distracted over anything. That's him with piano. I swear it is like Ooohh, did you see that flash of light or Aaaaww, a speck of lint, it doesn't really take much for him to loose his focus. But he is practising everyday and he is improving. Hopefully he will be able to focus his attention here soon or I might go bald from pulling my hair out.

So I have learned my first Hymn, Hooray! Take a listen. Plus, I am close to being able to play a second one. But I am really nervous to play in front of people and when I make a mistake I have a hard time keeping on the beat without completely loosing it. But our ward is in desperate need for Piano players so hopefully I can pick it up quickly.

Finally, I was washing the dishes tonight while Vallie hopped up to the piano to "practise". She started to clap the notes and play the notes while trying to say the finger numbers. I thought Sister Jex would get a kick out of this so I ran up to grab my camera. I haven't done any piano with Vallie but obviously she is getting something from Barry Bretton's piano lessons.

That is so awesome Tara! Seriously, I am so proud of you for doing this! Have you been taking lessons from Barry Bretton's teacher? Your piano is beautiful!

That's awesome! Learning to play the piano because it's needed; that is true dedication. I know you'll be blessed. Giving your children and opportunity to learn musical skills is a great service for the future!

Your piano looks pretty, I am with you on the Dory syndrome. Austin was the same way at swimming lessons today. He was more worried about what Alayna was doing, so I had to go watch from outside the premises. Good for Vallie wanting to play piano, you need to record barry bretton so we can hear what he is up to.
