Well Brahm is a month old and his umbilical cord is still in tack which you can see in the picture. Lots of people told me it was not a big deal and their kids stayed on for a long time and when they went into the doctor for their one month check up the doctor just put on some silver nitrate on it and the thing came right off. Needless to say I was excited for his check up so I could finally get the stub off so I could give him a bath. So when I took him to the doctor and he looked at it that was not the case. The doctor said oh on this is going to take surgery. I thought he was just kidding but apparently he was not. I had to take him to a pediatric surgeon today to get it looked at. Evidently, his cord was not cauterized well enough in the hospital so it will not come off (I guess they were more worried about getting him to breath). So they are going to have to put him under, cut if off, and then recauterize it (an outpatient surgery). Honestly I still can't believe it yet. You don't do surgery on a month old, right? But they do not want it to get infected. Has anyone heard of this before cause I sure haven't? I have tons of questions but was just like a deer in headlights in the doctors office, I couldn't really think straight. They have scheduled his surgery for next Wednesday.

I have never heard of this before! I am so sorry that Brahm has to have surgery. Hang in there my friend!
Tara,
I am so sorry! I truly know how you feel right now, although I am sure your fear is crazy right now even compared to mine! One month old, I just can't believe that. I am so sorry. I will be praying for you guys. Let us know how it goes. I will be thinking about you. Aiden's surgery is Thursday.
Once again, I am so sorry!
I can't believe that! I have never heard of such a thing. As if you all haven't been through enough with illnesses and such since he was born. I will be praying for Brahm and your family. Let me know how it all goes.
I haven't heard of this either! Who is your surgeon? Hope it all goes well. Take care!
