Watching my garden grow

It is no surprise I have let my blog go for a while. Not that it hasn't been on my mind. I have just been keeping my head afloat in life- end of school, gardening, dance classes, cub scouts, swim lessons, piano lessons, treasurer for LDS homeschoolers in Las Vegas, and my new church calling. I got put back in the RS Presidency in my new ward. I am over RS meeting or Enrichment whatever it is you call it anymore. Needless to say, it is never a dull moment around here but they are all great things to involve my time with. I think so often as mothers we give, give, give hoping to create great experiences and opportunities for our children to grow and develop but the fruits of our labors are often unseen by our children (and ourselves). We watch and we pray and we hope and we tend, sometimes there are tears and sometimes there is great joy but one thing is for sure the results are never immediate. Years can pass before we see our efforts. Here I am in my thirties and now I just start to realize all the things my Mother and Father did for me. Anyhow....

I think that is why I love gardening so much. It takes alot of heart and effort to get things to grow right and then time passes before you see the results of your efforts. It is so comparable to life and raising children but with much faster results. I found a bunch of picture on my camera that one of the children must have taken (my guess is Vallie because she is not in any of the pictures:) but I had to post some of them to show the fruits of our labors even though they are blurry. So far this year we have had lots of radishes, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, beets, onions, strawberries, corn, huckleberries, ground cherries, gooseberries, blackberries, cucumbers, basil, dill, parsley, sage, thyme, cilantro and artichokes. We have yet to see any summer squash, zucchini, sweet potatoes, melons, or carrots. Hopefully next year we will have limes, lemons, asparagus, peaches, apricots, apples, and grapes (we have picked all the fruit off this year to make strong plants). See, I told you we have been busy but worth every second!

Yes, that is a radish!

Barry by his prize winning tomato plants (not really prize winning but they are spectular)

An artichoke when it first appeared. There are a TON on the plant now.

Tops of the corn

One picking of beans. We get beans about every other day. We have kept up with them and I have frozen about 6 pounds.

Until next time.....Hopefully sooner than later.
