After saving for FOREVER we have finally purchased our first piano! I know your next thought. Does Tara Bulow play the piano? NO, not really (but if it would get me out of my current calling I might take it up really fast :) Only kidding, I had lessons for 5 years when I was younger but was always really grumpy about it so I am not good. Actually I think I just about gave my mother a heart attack when I told her we bought one because she was so shocked (I really fought her tooth and nail about lessons and I a completely sorry about it). One of my goals for the year is to be able to play A hymn (yes that is ONE hymn) by Christmas. So I have a far way to go. Barry and I have both been involved in music since we were young and both think it is so important to have good music in the home and for our children to be able to read and play music. The kids are so excited about the piano too and play it all day long. It has made Spring Break fly by. Barry Bretton can't wait to start lessons but he already thinks he is a concert pianist and has composed 3 songs. I swear this kids knows everything:) Anyway, the picture below pretty much sums up our Spring Break. We hope there are many more years of this piano bringing our family together in years to come.

That's awesome! I hope you enjoy it. Your kids seeing the effort and practice you put in will be a great example to them!
How exciting! We are saving for a piano also! I can only play a little bit, but I really want my girls to take lessons.
You will have to let me know where you got your piano:-)
I am really jealous. We have been wanting a piano for some time now, but we don't have room for one. But we do get the use my mom in laws old, out of tune one up stairs.
That is such a cute picture of your kids! I know you and I know you will have no problem reaching your goal to play a hymn. There is a simplified hymn book if that would help too. :) I can play about half the hymns pretty well, but struggle on the others. I fought my mom too - our poor moms!
Hurray! Future piano solos for sacrament meeting! Just let me know when you're ready. ;)
Almost forgot...I have spots available on Monday at 3:00, or 1:00 on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. Is he reading well? Being a good reader seems to help with the lessons. I charge $50/month. Let me know what you decide.
Go Girl!
