Back to School

So I know what some of you are thinking....Wait, she homeschools. Do they really go back to school? Plus, do homeschool kids really get excited about going back to school?

I have to say that is a big YES on both accounts in our family. We take a bit of a break in the summer to do summer learning like swimming lessons (which I am happy to report all my children were swimming by summers end this year) and warm weather play and work. Our garden is in full production and that takes time and energy to store food away for the winter. So summer is a time for different kinds of learning as in most homes.

So when the cool evenings begin to come on, there is a itching to get back to the books. My children LOVE learning so most of the time their contagious energy is easy to get back into full swing of study. So here are pictures of their first days back along with some of their favorite things they love from a random set of questions I ask them every year. Brahm-3

I asked him what the best thing about himself was and he said he is fun to play with. He loves carrots, blue, coloring, and Popsicles. He wants to be Prince Charming when he grows up. His best friend is Tyler (his cousin), he likes to eat cereal for dinner, play Buckaroo, and watch Elmo. His favorite chore is getting dressed and he likes to wear his striped shirt and "Big Pants" (jeans). His favorite sport is sword fighting, loves country music, and reading Curious George. If he had $100, he would buy a sword. And finally, if he was invisible for a day, he would sneak into mamas closet and get the sword down and play with it (Side note- he got his sword taken away from hitting his sister with it:).

Barry-8

I asked him what the best thing about himself was and he said that I will always have someone to talk to. He loves broccoli, green, science, ice cream sundaes, and his mama's fried chicken. He wants to be a spy, a writer, or an engineer when he grows up, he isn't sure yet. He loves to wear jeans and a t-shirt, watch Wild Kratts, play with Ronnie up the street, and Monopoly. If he could meet anyone is history it would be John F Kennedy. He would like to live in New York and buy a motorcycle. His favorite books are the Spiderwick Chronicles, is pretty sure he is going on a mission to California when he grows up, and is going to have 10 children. If he could choose to be royalty, a movie star, a genius, or a politician he would choose to be a genius. Finally, if he was invisible for a day he would scare people.

Vallie-5

Vallie is most proud of herself when she is helping out Brahm. She love broccoli, red, math, skittles, and spaghetti. She likes Chutes and Ladders, wearing her butterfly shirt and a pair of holey jeans, and wants to be a scientist when she grows up. Her favorite sport is biking and loves any song by Taylor Swift. If she could meet anyone is history it would be Joseph Smith and would choose to live in Las Vegas over than any other place in the world. She is pretty sure she is going on a mission to Alaska when she grows up and wants to have 3 children. She either wants to ride a motorcycle or drive a Jetta when she can. If she could choose between being royalty, a movie star, a genius, or a politician, she would choose royalty because they are beautiful. If she was invisible for a day, she would scare people by saying Whooooo or BOO!

That is a great idea to interview them. Vallie is beautiful and the boys are handsome. :) I bet your garden has been amazing! My kids love Wild Kratts just like Barry Bretton. They watch it every day after school. :)

LOVE the interviews. Such a great capture of the way their minds work. Your kids are darling. Good luck with homeschool. I really don't know how you do it!

Awesome! It's good to get an update and I love their answers to the questions! What cuties! P.S. A girl in our branch just received her mission call to Las Vegas!
