Triathlon

Barry Bretton loves to ride his bike and run so a little while back he asked me if there was such a thing as bike racing as a sport. I knew there was bike racing but I wasn't sure if they had races for children. After looking around for a while, I found some children's triathlons. Can I just say my children are in love with them. So Vallie and Barry Bretton participated in their first one a little while ago. We trained as a family and Brahm was super bummed we wouldn't let him do it this year but we promised next year he could. Vallie was the youngest competitor to complete it all by herself.

So here is a little run down of the race. Both of them killed on the run length finishing in the top of their age group (which I am not surprised, they are their father's children who is a track athlete). Swimming wasn't so good but they both completed it. They need to be stronger swimmers to compete well. Barry Bretton was average on the bike and Vallie crashed hard. Can you see the bruise on her forehead in the picture below? Good thing for helmets. I was just glad there were no broken bones. But she shook it off, finished very tentatively on the bike, ran her guts out, and can't wait until the next one.
Here she is finishing and might I add looking very stylish in her tutu:)

Here is Barry Bretton finishing.

This is the first sport my kids have loved and can't wait for more. So we are super excited for them to find something they like:)

Oh my goodness! I love that your kids did this! What a neat thing for them to participate in. I would have my kids do it except, they don't swim well enough or bike well enough yet. Ha. Ha.
